Hello, I’m Austin.
Thanks for visiting.

I’m a student, audio & video guy, and web designer from Boulder, Colorado, currently at American University in Washington, D.C. I write, make music, and produce short films when I find time to — sometimes for fun, and sometimes professionally (it’s pretty fun either way).

Projects & Work

Over the past three or four years much of my work has involved video production, audio production, and web design. The best projects involve all three.

This site is the best example to demonstrate my design sensibilities: minimalist navigation, page layouts flexible to the content, and neat typography. Readers shouldn’t see the technical cruft of websites — I try to make the engine disappear.

Some of my “professional” work includes short productions and web design for Real Results Marketing. For the past three years I’ve also participated in Denver’s 48 Hour Film Project, where I’ve directed, edited, shot, and composed music for a couple best-of films. And, finally, as a mix of entrepreneurial practice and personal hobby, I sometimes produce my own music — which, like any good procrastinator working in a home studio, isn’t finished yet.

Contact

I’m a fan of email from real people, and if you’re not a spammer, you’re probably pretty real. (Chyeah.) You can reach me at email hidden; JavaScript is required.

Nerdery

Wp blue Coda Nvalt Marsedit

This site was built in coffee shops, dorm rooms, and other places where real work should have gotten done. It’s published through WordPress, with an original design built on top of jerry-rigged technicals from the default themes. All coding is done through Coda, the typefaces are from Typekit, and the prose comes out of a combination of MarsEdit and Notational Velocity. Some of the site’s presentational touches also rely on the excellent Art Direction and flickrRSS plugins.

Older, Deeper Nerdery

In my wistful/embarrassing teenage years, I produced sketch comedy, wrote about Mac interface style, and made Dashboard widgets.
